Letitia B. Burwell lived at Avenel which was a plantation during the 1840s, 1850s, & 1860s. Excerpts from the diary of Letitia B. Burwell to her nieces were compiled and put together to give an accurate depiction of A Girl's Life of Virginia Before the War.
